Research Summary

My research interests revolve around 19th-century Canadian history, particularly Atlantic Canadian history. I’m interested in ideas of the public gaze and performance, specifically in relation to visual and material culture studies. This interest is explored mostly in relation to women’s history.

My field of study is in Eighteen-Century British literature, specifically pertaining to naval culture/literary productions. Environmental humanities is a big part too, and how the environment at sea changes and is changed by the sailors who work within them.
