Canada Graduate Scholarships – Master’s Program
Application deadline: December 2nd at 8 pm EST
The Canada Graduate Scholarships-Master’s Program (CGS M) provides financial support to high-calibre scholars who are engaged in eligible Masters or, in some cases, doctoral programs in Canada.
The CGS M Program is administered jointly by Canada’s three federal granting agencies: the Canadian Institutes for Health Research (CIHR), the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC). The three agencies have created a harmonized application, regulations, instructions and application portal for the CGS M Scholarship which can be found on the official tri-agency website.
Eligible students must complete and submit the application through the agency portal by the firm deadline of 8 pm EST on Dec 2nd (please see the NSERC website for deadline details). Students can choose up to three universities where they want to hold their award. If a student chooses McMaster as one of the universities where they want to hold their award, they are automatically considered for an Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) at McMaster. No additional application is required for the OGS.
Ontario Graduate Scholarship Information for Master’s Applicants
To be considered for the Ontario Graduate Scholarship awards at McMaster, MA applicants must apply for a CGS-M award and select McMaster as one of your intended Universities on the CGS-M application. CGS-M applications are used to determine Ontario Graduate Scholarships as well as CGS-M awards. The CGS-M application process takes some time; start it early, and complete your application well before the December 1st deadline.
More information for scholarships and awards for graduate students can be found on the School of Graduate studies website.
