The Department of English and Cultural Studies is pleased to present the first event in our 2018-19 Visiting Speakers series, “Conversations in Literary and Cultural Studies: Bodies of Work”:

Thursday, October 25: AbleHamilton Poetry Collective Hosts New Brunswick Poets, in MUSC 222, from 1:00-3:00 pm

This panel will feature the New Brunswick-based poets Robert Moore, Sue Sinclair, and Phillip Crymble, and is rounded out by McMaster’s own Jeffery Donaldson. One focus will be to identify particular challenges for disabled poets who live in smaller centres. Another emphasis will be how the NB-based panelists accommodate students and poets with disabilities during their teaching. The bulk of the event will be the poets sharing from their own works of poetry. The AbleHamilton Poetry Collective (Ally Fleming, Paul Lisson, and Shane Neilson) believes that creative sharing and collaboration between different artistic communities of disability will be to audiences’ and artists’ mutual benefit.

All are welcome. For more information or to request accommodations, please contact Shane Neilson ( or Sarah Brophy (
